Hyderabad: The Head of Finance department, ICBM College, Hyderabad, Dr. P Sai Rani on Tuesday highlighted the push to empower women and children aimed at improving their social and economic growth in the recent union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Addressing students at the Indian Institute of Management and Commerce during a talk on ‘Insights of union Budget 2022-23’ jointly organised by Telangana Today and Namasthe Telangana, she explained the impact of the budget on women empowerment. She also spoke on newly launched programmes like the Mission Poshan 2.0, Mission Vatsalya and Mission Shakti.
“The onset of the Covid-19 pandemic has further heightened their vulnerabilities where women are experiencing disproportionate job losses, layoffs and slower employment recovery,” she said.
“The budget 2022-23 has surprised the common man. During the pandemic, the unemployment increased, which is cause of concern and some relief was expected,” said Dr. Syed Azhar, Professor, ICBM College, adding that post the pandemic, the poor and marginalized people were having a lot of expectations.
“No change in the income tax slab rates, decrease in allocation of funds for MGNREGA but PMAY and Nal Se Jal provided some relief to the middle class people in terms of housing, electricity, and access to water,” he said.
“The budget emphasized financial inclusion, digital banking, digital university, production linked incentive, electric vehicles, and 5G spectrum etc.,” he added.
Principal of the college K Raghuveer thanked the management of Telangana Today and Namasthe Telangana for organising such an informative session for students.
