Businesses across Hyderabad’s old city remain shut in protest on Tuesday

The Hyderabad police had registered a case against Narsinganand for making blasphemous and derogatory comments against Prophet Mohammed in a video message.

Hyderabad: Business establishments in several areas of the city were shut down on Tuesday in view of a protest call demanding the immediate arrest of Ghaziabad based Swami Yati Narsinganand against whom a case is registered in the city. No untoward incidents were reported.

The Hyderabad police had registered a case against Narsinganand for making blasphemous and derogatory comments against Prophet Mohammed in a video message. Following the incident, protests were held in few parts of the old city early this month.


Tehreek Muslim Shabban, and 36 other organizations had given a bandh call for Tuesday. Following the call the markets remained closed at Charminar, Madina Building, Pathergatti, Hussainalam, Moinbagh, Edi Bazaar, Jagadish Market, Afzalgunj and other areas.

The police had made elaborate security arrangements following the protest call.
