Call for ‘bandh’ to protest privatisation of Vizag steel plant

The steel plant employees and contract workers were on relay fasts for the past 15 days protesting the privatisation move

Visakhapatnam: All trade unions and people’s organisations under the Vizag steel plant protection committee have decided to observe a Visakhapatnam bandh on March 5 to protect the steel plant from privatisation.

Chairman of the UkkU Porata Committee Ch. Naragina Rao urged the people to make the bandh a success to stall 100 per cent privatisation of the Visakhapatnam steel plant proposed by the BJP-led Central government. The steel plant employees and contract workers were on relay fasts for the past 15 days but the government was unmoved, he observed.
