Mancherial: Candidates are alleging that the process of recruitment of teachers by the District Selection Committee (DSC)-2024 was erroneously carried out. They complain that officials showed negligence in following norms set by the government in selecting candidates for the posts of various teachers.
As many as 11,062 posts were notified in the DSC in March. Candidates appeared for examinations held by DSC from July 18 to August 5. The results were announced on September 30. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy formally handed over letters of appointments to candidates who were selected in Hyderabad on October 9.
However, candidates, who performed well in the DSC still continue to submit request letters with District Collectors in several parts of Telangana to take steps to ensure justice during Prajavani, a grievance redressal programme organized in Integrated District Officers Complex on every Monday. They charge that laxity of officials involved in the process of verification of certificates benefited ineligible candidates.
This apart, the State Education department had recently terminated seven teachers who qualified in the DSC-2024 and were given appointment orders by the Chief Minister after they got selected for Hindi pandit posts. They were sacked after working for 22 days on the grounds that they did not have the requisite qualification, as per GO MS No. 25.
Kandi Divya, the mother of a 3-year-old son from Laxmipur village in Luxettipet mandal was selected as a teacher for securing 15th rank in DSC under special education category. She, however, was not offered an appointment order when an ineligible candidate raised an objection. She requested Collector Kumar Deepak to take steps to help her in getting posted on October 21.
“Officials assured me steps would be taken to ensure justice. However, I have been visiting IDOC and the office of the district educational officer (DEO) almost every day hoping officials would help her, but to no avail.
Ajmeera Rahul, another candidate from the district alleged that an ineligible candidate was appointed although he was selected for a teacher post under special education category and he attended verification of certificates. The candidates allege that many candidates were recruited as teachers though they don’t have registration by Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).
Veeresham, a physically-challenged candidate from Chata village in Kubheer mandal of Nirmal district got the second rank in the DSC under open category. He attended verification of certificates, but was not posted so far. Similarly, candidates regret that officials selected ineligible candidates for the posts of School Assistants (Social studies).
Aspirants of Hindi Pandit posts allege that candidates who did not pursue a degree course with Hindi as one of the optional subjects from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission UGC (UGC), were selected as Language Pandit and School Assistant jobs in DSC-2024, violating memo number 9991 issued by the education department issued in November 2023.
When asked, DEO S Yadaiah said a special committee comprising three officials was formed to reverify the process of recruitments and to cross-check eligibility of candidates. He stated that many candidates submitted applications claiming that the errors occurred in the process of selecting the teachers. He stated that the process was held as per norms of the order numbering 25.
