Car catches fire on Karimnagar’s Alugunur bridge

A Maruti 800 caught fire on Alugunur bridge in Karimnagar town on Saturday, forcing its occupants to abandon the vehicle. The blaze brought traffic on the Karimnagar–Hyderabad–Warangal main road to a halt.

Karimnagar: A car caught fire on Alugunur bridge in Karimnagar town on Saturday when flames suddenly erupted from the engine of a moving Maruti 800.

Noticing the flames, the occupants of the vehicle got out and moved to safety.

Vehicular traffic on the Karimnagar-Hyderabad-Warangal main road came to a standstill following the incident. On being alerted, fire department personnel rushed to the spot and doused the flames using fire tenders.

Meanwhile, police cleared the road and restored vehicular movement.
