Hyderabad: The Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation (TSMFC) provided cars to 106 beneficiaries under the “Driver cum Owner” scheme on Saturday as part of its empowerment programme.
Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali and Minority for Minority Welfare, K Eshwar handed over Maruti cars to the beneficiaries at a function at Haj House. The 106 beneficiaries were selected by the TSMFC after accepting applications from the eligible persons.
Speaking on the occasion, Eshwar said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao took up several initiatives for the welfare of the minority communities across the State. He said that the State government set up 204 minority schools across Telangana and several thousand students were pursuing their education free of cost.
Mahmood Ali said the State government is paying Rs 5,000 a month to the Imam and Muezzin. On the occasion A K Khan, advisor to government on Minority Affairs, and other officials were present.
