Hyderabad: Election authorities on Monday said they had taken note of videos circulating on social media alleging the presence of fake or duplicate voter ID cards in Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency.
Following a preliminary verification, officials clarified that most of the cards seen in the visuals appeared to be old EPIC cards in the earlier vertical format. The Election Commission of India has since shifted to a horizontal format for EPIC cards, which are currently being issued nationwide.
Taking cognisance of the circulation of these visuals, a case was registered under Cr. No. 219/2025 at Tolichowki Police Station for a detailed investigation into the source and intent behind the circulation.
Meanwhile, District Election Officer, Hyderabad, reviewed arrangements for the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency byelection scheduled for Tuesday. Officials said all arrangements were in place for the smooth conduct of polling in line with ECI guidelines.
