Hyderabad: In yet another outburst from a senior Congress leader against the State leadership, TPCC working president Anjan Kumar Yadav said the State government had conducted the caste census as it was promised by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, otherwise the exercise would not have seen light of the day.
Taking a dig at upper caste leaders in the party, the former MP also said a few people were making all attempts to suppress Yadav community leaders. At a Yadav community leaders meeting here on Monday, he said in fact the State leadership had taken a wrong decision in allotting the Secunderabad Parliament ticket to another leader.
“Someone, who was leisurely sitting at home, was given the ticket. If the ticket was offered to a Yadav community leader, the Congress would have won convincingly,” Anjan Kumar Yadav said in an indirect dig at Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender. The former MP was also critical of the caste equations prevailing in the Telangana unit of the Congress. A few upper caste leaders were of the false notion that they offered me the TPCC working president post.
“It was former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav who spoke to CPP chief Sonia Gandhi twice and made sure I was made the TPCC working president. There was a lot of descrimination,” Yadav said, adding that it was Uttam Kumar Reddy and Jagga Reddy who opposed his elevation to the post.
“Similar attempts were made by a few upper caste leaders to ensure that I do not get a union Cabinet berth. They lose MLA elections but manage to get tickets in the parliament elections and contest again but when BC leaders make a similar demand, they are denied such opportunities,” he alleged.
“From now on, if the Yadav community is not given due recognition and accorded priority, we will not tolerate it. We are not at the mercy of other people,” Anjan Kumar Yadav warned.
