CBI conducts searches at different locations in Telangana, Maharashtra

Move comes after a case was registered against Divisional Operations Manager working at South Central Railway, Secunderabad

Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at different locations in Telangana and Maharashtra after a case was registered against a Divisional Operations Manager (DOM), working at Principal Chief Operations Manager, South Central Railway, Secunderabad, Telangana, on allegations of bribery.

The CBI registered the case against the official, Syed Munavar Basha, on the basis of a complaint received from Deputy Chief Vigilance Officer, South Central Railways, Secunderabad, alleging that official demanded bribe money for selecting candidates for the posts of Traffic Inspectors and Chief controllers in the Operating Department at South Central Railway Headquarters.

It was further alleged that the suspect received the bribe totalling Rs 1,25,000 into his son’s bank account by way of UPI transfers from four candidates and Rs 40,000 in cash during July-August 2023 from a candidate.

It was also alleged that he was in receipt of a total amount of Rs 31,62,500 through suspicious transactions into his account and his son’s account, which are beyond his sources, officials maintained.

Searches were conducted by CBI at the premises of accused at two places in Solapur and one place each in Hyderabad and Guntakal which led to recovery of some incriminating documents.
