Hyderabad: A heart-wrenching CCTV video of a farmer’s suicide in the erstwhile Adilabad district triggered widespread outrage over the Congress governance in the State. Jadav Devrao, a 50-year-old tribal farmer, consumed poison in a private bank in Adilabad on Saturday, reportedly crushed by financial burdens and unmet promises from the Congress government.

Sharing the distressing CCTV footage on social media, BRS working president KT Rama Rao called it “a gut-wrenching testament to the Congress government’s failed administration.” He termed it hard evidence of the fake narrative that the Congress kept peddling repeatedly.

“This is daylight murder of a Telangana farmer by your Congress government,” he told Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Devrao’s family, including his ailing wife, a kidney patient, and his son, now face an uncertain future. The farmer’s despair had only increased due to unmet promises by the Congress government including the promised Rs 15,000 per acre Rythu Bharosa investment support.

“All this because of your failed promises. This video is proof of what we have been saying – not event 40 per cent farmers received the Rs 2 lakh farm loan waiver promised by the Congress,” Rama Rao posted on X. He called the Rythu Bharosa investment as a bigger farce, with the Congress government taking a U-turn from the promised Rs 15,000 per acre per annum.

The BRS working president called on Rahul Gandhi to witness firsthand the struggles of Telangana’s farmers.

“Jadav Devrao is not the only farmer who is losing hope. See for yourself the wreckage of your lofty promises and failed governance that have pushed the farming sector into the dark ages. Telangana farmers are crying out for justice,” he said, urging action before more lives were lost.
