Hyderabad: Director of Census Operations Bharati Hollikeri said the ensuing Census 2027 would be conducted in two phases, House Listing and Housing Census (HLO) and Population Enumeration (PE).

Under Phase I of the House Listing and Housing Census (HLO), self-enumeration will be conducted from April 26 to May 10, followed by the House Listing and Housing Census from May 11 to June 9. Under Phase II of Population Enumeration (PE), the exercise will be conducted from February 9 to 28, 2027. Enumeration of the houseless population will be carried out on the night of February 28, followed by a revisional round from March 1 to 5, 2027. About 88,000 enumerators and supervisors, including reserve staff, will undertake the field-level census operations.

Speaking to media persons, the Director reiterated that all information collected during the Census would be kept strictly confidential under the provisions of the Census Act. The data provided by individuals and households would be used only for statistical purposes and no personal information would be shared with any authority or agency, she assured.

She clarified that no welfare schemes, benefits, taxation matters or eligibility decisions are linked to the information provided during the Census. The Census is purely a statistical exercise aimed at generating reliable demographic and housing data to support planning and policy formulation. The Director urged citizens to cooperate with census officials and provide accurate information, thereby contributing to the successful completion of Census 2027.
