Central government revises mid-day meal material cost

As per the revised cost per child per day, for Bala Vatikas and primary schools, the cost is enhanced from Rs.5.45 to Rs.6.19. Similarly, price has been increased from Rs.8.17 per child per day to Rs.9.29 per child per day.

Hyderabad: The Central government on Wednesday revised material cost for the mid-day meals under the PM Poshan.

As per the revised cost per child per day, for Bala Vatikas and primary schools, the cost is enhanced from Rs.5.45 to Rs.6.19. Similarly, price has been increased from Rs.8.17 per child per day to Rs.9.29 per child per day. This cost will be borne by both Central and State governments in the 60:40 ratio.


The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, on Wednesday wrote a letter to the State government informing the Central government’s decision on increasing the material cost.

The officials have been asked to disseminate the increase in the material cost to all concerned to ensure prompt implementation from December 1.
