A Secondary Grade Teacher at Mandal Parishad Primary School (Girls), Jammikunta, Karimnagar, has been suspended for allegedly spreading false information about government schools and schemes. The District Education Officer issued suspension orders on November 14.

For nearly a year, the mid-day meals in the government and local body schools ran on an outdated cost, forcing schools to struggle to provide better quality and nutritious meals. This is despite the Central government revising the cooking charges in November 2024. However, the State government has failed to implement the hike for nearly a year.

Eggs have been removed from mid-day meals in Telangana government schools due to rising prices and pending payments. Agencies and cooks halted supply, leaving students without protein, though the Education Department has now instructed resumption of egg distribution

As per the revised cost per child per day, for Bala Vatikas and primary schools, the cost is enhanced from Rs.5.45 to Rs.6.19. Similarly, price has been increased from Rs.8.17 per child per day to Rs.9.29 per child per day.

Collector Pamela Satpathy conducted a meeting with MEOs at her camp office here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, she wanted the officers to ensure that the students studying in government schools should not face any difficulties.

Besides salaries of their staff, bills for commodities are said to be pending for the last eight months, this has led to the serving of eggs to students in mid-day meals becoming a huge burden for agencies.

The students complained that they developed stomach pain immediately after having lunch in the school.
