Centre faces questions as complaints against Ex-Singareni CMD pending over a year
Three complaints alleging irregularities in SCCL, backed by documentary evidence, have remained pending with the Central Vigilance Commission for over a year without enquiry. A whistle-blower has demanded an independent probe to establish accountability.
Hyderabad: Three complaints alleging serious irregularities by a former Chairman and Managing Director of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), reportedly supported by documentary evidence, have been pending with the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) for over a year, with no enquiry ordered so far.
A whistle-blower, who preferred anonymity, alleged that despite submission of documents with supporting proofs, there has been no movement on the complaints, raising questions over the Centre’s continued silence.
The complaints pertain to alleged irregularities in the procurement of explosives by SCCL, issues relating to the Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) plant at the Singareni Thermal Power Plant (STPP) in Mancherial, and alleged corruption and procedural lapses in the appointment of the Singareni CMD.
According to details shared, one of the complaints reached the Telangana government in April 2025. Another complaint is pending with the Ministry of Coal, headed by Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, while the third complaint is stated to have reached the Ministry of Revenue.
Despite the complaints being backed by documentary evidence, no action has been initiated so far. Questions are being raised over why no enquiry has been ordered even after a year, particularly when the complaints involve a public sector undertaking and large financial implications.
The prolonged inaction has also triggered allegations of political complicity, with claims that both the BJP and Congress are together shielding those involved. The silence of the Centre, despite the gravity of the allegations, has come under scrutiny amid ongoing controversies surrounding SCCL’s procurement processes and administrative functioning.
The whistle-blower alleged that the lack of response from the CVC and Union ministries indicated that the matter was being deliberately stalled, and called for an independent enquiry to ascertain the facts and fix accountability.
