Nalgonda: Members of Nagarjuna Sagar Hydropower Plant Employees Sang (NSHES) on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration at the main hydropower plant at Nagarjuna Sagar in protest against the Electricity Amendment Bill scheduled to be introduced during the ongoing winter session of Parliament by the Centre.
The employees of the power plant participated in the protest demonstration wearing black badges. They alleged that the Centre was planning to privatise the public sector institutions of power generation and transmission for the benefit of corporate forces. It was also trying to bring laws to hand over the rights on natural resources to the corporate sector, which would impact the interests of the people as well as the country. They alleged that the proposed Electricity Amendment Act would not only impact the interests of the farmers, but also the employees of the electricity department. They will boycott the duties and go on a flash strike if the Centre fails to withdraw its plan to bring the Act, they warned.
