Hyderabad: The Union government has taken up development of greenfield highways in an extent of 651.73 km in Telangana at a cost of Rs 18,391.23 crore. All the nine projects under the scheme are expected to be completed between April 2024 and September 2025.
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari replied to a question posed by Zaheerabad MP BB Patil in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, and tabled the details. Of these projects, the Regional Ring Road of Hyderabad city, covering the 158-km stretch of Sangareddy-Narsapur-Toopran-Choutuppal on NH-161AA, will be taken up as a greenfield highway at an expenditure of Rs 7,512 crore and is scheduled to be completed by September 2025.
Accordingly, construction of four-lane access-controlled new greenfield highway section of NH-365BG on Khammam-Devarapalle section from Thallampadu village to Somavaram village of 33.6 km stretch will be built at cost of Rs 772.11 crore. Another stretch of the same road of 29.5 km length from Somavaram to Chintagudem village will be taken up with Rs 637.11 crore and the third section of 42.11 km length from Chintagudem village to Thumburu village will be constructed with Rs 804.69 crore. The entire stretch will be completed before April 2024.
The six-lane access-controlled new greenfield highway section of NH-150C on Akalkot-Kurnool section from Nandinne village to Julekal village of 39.3 km length will be constructed with Rs 920 crore, and Julekal to Dinnedevarapadu village of 38.2 km length to be developed at a cost of Rs 1,045.26 crore. Thsi is scheduled to be completed before September 2024.
Similarly, the four-laning of Mancherial-Warangal section of Nagpur-Vijayawada corridor on NH-163G over a stretch of 112 km will be taken up with Rs 2,455 crore and four/six-laning of Warangal-Khammam section of the same road of 108 km length will be constructed with Rs 2,044 crore. The four/six-laning of the highway between Khammam and Telangana-Andhra Pradesh border of 91 km length will be completed at a cost of Rs 2,201 crore. The three packages will be executed before March 2025.
