Karimnagar: Chief Electoral Officer Dr Shashank Goel instructed officials to enforce Covid norms while conducting byelection for Huzurabad constituency scheduled on October 30. The CEO on Saturday visited ZPHS (boys) and primary school (SC colony) of Kamalapur mandal headquarters, Ambala ZPHS and Gudur Primary School in Kamalapur mandal selected for polling. He examined arrangements in various number polling stations.
Speaking on the occasion, Shashank Goel instructed officials to take steps to avoid mass gathering at polling stations on the day of polling and send voters into polling stations to exercise votes in queue lines by following Covid norms.
Polling staff should ensure voters wear face masks, sanitize hands frequently and maintain physical distance, he said and directed officials to deploy an ANM and ASHA worker at every polling station. The CEO wanted the officials to arrange ramps, furniture, wheelchairs, electricity and toilets at polling stations. Later, he conducted a review meeting with election officials and police officials to discuss the polling process.
Collectors RV Karnan (Karimnagar), Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu, Warangal Police Commissioner Tharun Joshi, Hanamkonda in-charge DRO O Vasu Chandra, Huzurabad bypoll returning officer Ch Ravinder Reddy and others participated in the programme.
On the other hand, Collector RV Karnan along with returning officer Ch Ravinder Reddy visited EVMs and VVPATs distribution center arranged at Government Junior College, Huzurabad. He examined the list of contesting candidates, ballot papers printed along with symbols allocated to aspirants and postal ballot papers.
