Hyderabad: A chain snatcher targeted a woman and fled with her ‘mangalsutra’ at Sardar Nagar in Shabad on city outskirts on Tuesday night.

The woman, B.Narsamma (45), a home maker was alone and busy with household chores, when the incident occurred.

Police said, an unidentified man barged into the house and tried to snatch her gold chain. When Narsamma resisted his attempt and hit him with a stick, which she grabbed from a nearby spot. The suspect then pushed her down and hit her, before snatching the ornament and escaping.

Based on a complaint, the Shabad police booked a case and are investigating. Footage from surveillance cameras in the surroundings is being examined to identify the suspect, police said.
