Hyderabad: The ongoing rescue mission at the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel accident site has encountered an arduous final phase, with manoeuvering the last 40 metres proving to be an uphill battle.

The precarious state of the collapsed roof, which remains half-standing, adds to the challenges as search operations intensify for the seven missing workers and engineers.

The incident, which occurred on February 22, has left rescuers grappling with unstable conditions marked by debris, slush, and oxygen shortages.

Out of the eight missing individuals, the body of one worker was recovered, while efforts to locate the remaining personnel continued without any break.

In an attempt to bolster the rescue mission, advanced technology has been deployed, including a cutting-edge hydraulic-powered robot.

This equipment, capable of performing 15 times faster than manual labour, is expected to accelerate the excavation and debris removal process.

Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) remain at the forefront of these operations.

The dedicated rescue crews and the introduction of sophisticated machinery presented a glimmer of hope in an otherwise grim situation.

Families of the missing workers are anxiously waiting at the project camp in anticipation of some breakthrough in the operations, but the officials are finding it increasingly difficult to console them.
