Hyderabad: Changing children’s lives through his miniature art is how Prashanth stands apart from others.
Hailing from Kumrambheem Asifabad district, Bonagiri Prashanth Kumar seeks to make an impact on society. The young artist, who is an animation designer by profession, keeps doing miniature art and painting to run an NGO – Sri Vasavi Charitable Trust which is helping 40 plus students with free education.
It all started with miniature art and hand paintings which gave Prashanth his own identity. Though he started painting with passion, it later turned up to be a profession. He tried his hand at painting and miniature art, which clicked well for him. People from different places get their paintings done by the youngster.
Bonagiri Prashanth got inspired by his father Bonagiri Krishnamurthy who runs kirana store and also helps the needy who ever steps into his place. “I grew up seeing my dad helping the needy and that’s what inspired me, I thought of helping kids by giving them a better education which would help them to stay independent,” he says.
In the initial days, he didn’t expect his works to click so well and find acceptance the way they did. “I never expected I would be getting so many orders. Early days, it was very few people who used to approach but later I started receiving 20 plus orders. Now, after returning from my work, I start working on paintings and miniature art,” says Prashanth who also takes art classes for the kids on the weekends.
Exhibiting his art collection at Ravindra Bharathi and State Art Gallery gave him more exposure. And the money which he earns through the exhibition, is spent on children’s education.
This animation designer also painted and gifted a few art pieces to politicians and celebrities, which grabbed attention from the public. He takes two days to paint one art piece and seven hours for a miniature. Recently, he made a sculpture of Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on pencil which he would be presenting soon.
This young artist wants to build a house for all the 40 kids and give them a perfect place to lead the life they want too. He had also planned to set up clean water tanks at various government schools, but due to the pandemic, the initiative was postponed.
