Medak: Chegunta police on Sunday arrested three persons on charges of attempting to kill a man by setting him on fire at Vadiyaram village in Chegunta mandal of Medak district.
The accused were identified as Donthi Ramakrishna, Gundla Ramesh and Kukkala Anil, all residents of Vadiyaram. The trio reportedly caught two men — Bandela Mohan alias Yohan and Yerrolla Mahipal, residents of Jangarai — attempting to steal Ramesh’s motorbike on Saturday night.
In a fit of rage, they attacked Mohan and Mahipal brutally. After finding a bottle of petrol in Mohan’s pocket, they poured it on him and set him ablaze. Locals rushed to the spot and managed to extinguish the flames, rescuing Mohan.
Upon receiving information, Chegunta police reached the village and began an inquiry. Inspector Venkataraja Goud said that efforts are underway to apprehend others involved in the incident.
Mohan, who is undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital, is stated to be in critical condition. The arrested trio will be produced before the court.
