Toxic smoke engulfs Ameenpur after miscreants torch chemical waste

Sangareddy: Thick, harmful smoke engulfed the Kistareddypet area under Ameenpur municipality after unidentified persons dumped several drums suspected of containing chemical effluents and set them on fire on Sunday night.
The smoke spread rapidly, causing panic among residents who alerted officials. Fire department personnel rushed to the burial ground in Kistareddypet, where the drums were still burning, and managed to douse the flames after a strenuous effort.
Police have begun examining CCTV footage in the vicinity to identify and trace those responsible for dumping and igniting the chemical waste.
