Hyderabad: In a swift operation, the Cyberabad Police rescued a three-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped from outside Lingampally Railway Station and arrested three people for allegedly running an illegal child trafficking and adoption network.

The child, Pushparani, went missing in the early hours of July 16, while sleeping beside her mother, a street vendor from Anantapur district, on a pavement. Her mother lodged a complaint with the Chandanagar Police.

Police formed special teams and searched across Cyberabad, Vikarabad and Mahabubnagar districts. Using technical surveillance and field investigation, officers tracked down the suspects and rescued the child before she could allegedly be sold to a prospective buyer.

The arrested suspects have been identified as K Srinivas (36) of Vikarabad district, D Rama Krishna (23) of Bandlaguda, and P Navaneetha (31), a staff nurse and laboratory technician from Mahabubnagar.

According to the police, Navaneetha allegedly built a network connecting childless couples with intermediaries who procured children through illegal means, bypassing the legal adoption process. Police said she allegedly used her professional contacts to identify prospective buyers and facilitate illegal adoption deals.

The investigation further revealed that Srinivas and Rama Krishna allegedly kidnapped the child from the pavement during the night after being instructed to procure a child for money.

The duo reportedly transported the girl to Mahabubnagar, where arrangements had been made to hand her over to a prospective buyer. Police intercepted the accused before the transaction could take place. Officials said the operation not only ensured the safe rescue of the child but also exposed an organised trafficking network.
