Chilkur Balaji temple Chief Priest MV Soundararajan gets new title

Hyderabad: Chilkur Balaji temple chief priest MV Soundararajan has been conferred with the title ‘Sampradaya SamRakshana Deepa’.
At the age of 85, the title is a recognition for his untiring services in protection of the Dharma through protecting the temple system against governmental interference, political and commercial elements, according to a press release. Poundareekapuram Srimad Andavan Ashramam of Srirangam conferred the title on Dr. Soundararajan on the occasion of the birth centenary celebrations of His Holiness Sri Gopaladesika Mahadesikan, with the title being conferred by the present Pontiff His Holiness Srinivasa Gopala Mahadesikan.
An MCom and LLB graduate with a Doctorate in Commerce, Dr. Soundararajan is also the recipient of the ‘Best Teacher Award’ from the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 1981. He is also a Hereditary Trustee and Archaka of the Temple and has introduced reforms in the temple like no hundi, no VIP darshan with a single queue for all devotees, no ticket system, no Arjitha Sevas and no cash offerings.
