Kothagudem: Chimna thanda Gram Panchayat in Sujathanagar mandal in the district has achieved 100 percent vaccination as part of the ongoing special Covid vaccination drive. The District Collector, Durishetty Anudeep attended a congratulatory meeting organised at the thanda on Tuesday and appreciated elected members, health and village officials for achieving 100 per cent vaccination. All the 353 persons above 18 years of age in the thanda were vaccinated by September 16.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the village has upheld the reputation of the district at the national level. The vaccination process was completed in remote Chimna thanda because of the cooperation of government personnel, public representatives and the village residents. “Everyone has to take this village as a model in the State and the country for completing the vaccination. People in rural areas were more interested in receiving the vaccine than in urban areas”, Anudeep said.
The Collector informed that so far nearly three lakh doses of the vaccine had been administered in Kothagudem district since January, adding that one lakh doses had been administered as part of the special vaccination programme held this week. He said that it was very important to get vaccinated for protection against the coronavirus and there would be no problem after getting the vaccine shot.
