Hyderabad: Citing several unresolved issues that badly impacted their ability to prepare, the Group – I services recruitment aspirants on Sunday reiterated their demand for deferring the Main exams scheduled from Monday.

The aspirants wanted the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) to reschedule the exams after final ruling by the High Court on November 20 and sought clear guidelines on reservation norms and a clarity on study material .

As per the TGPSC schedule, the Group – Main exams are scheduled to be conducted from October 21 to 27.

Backing their demand, the aspirants said the GO 29 issued by the Congress government has changed reservation norms for SC, ST, BC and EWS categories, rendering several aspirants ineligible under new rules.

As the GO 29 was currently under judicial review with a ruling expected on November 20, this uncertainty has left aspirants questioning the validity of the exam and its results.

“We students not only want the exam to happen but also want litigation free results,” they said.

Moreover, TGPSC terming the Telugu Akademi textbooks, which aspirants have been using in their preparation for subjects – Telangana history, geography, and movements, as not standard in the High Court has left students in utter confusion.

“This sudden change has caused widespread confusion among candidates, leaving them uncertain about which materials to rely on with a short time left for preparation,” they said.

Candidates lamented that peaceful protests undertaken by them to resolve these issues were met with brutal police force, with instances of arrests and power shutdowns in study halls.

“The mental and emotional stress caused by these actions has deeply affected the ability of many aspirants to focus on their examination preparation,” the students said.

Further, candidates under the sports quota were issued hall tickets only on October 19 while the exam was scheduled from October 21, they said, adding that “This last minute notification has caused extreme distress as these candidates have had insufficient time to adequately prepare”.
