Sangareddy: With summer setting in and temperatures soaring above 40 degrees Celsius in many places across the State, birds, stray dogs and animals are finding it tough to find water to quench their thirst.

Many birds, and animals also die due to lack of water during summer. To save their lives by doing their bit, Citizen for Animals (CFA) has been placing water bowls across Hyderabad and its outskirts.

Aiming to place 1,500 bowls this year, Prithvi, a volunteer of CFA, told Telangana Today that they had placed 260 water bowls across the State capital so far. They were doing the work for five consecutive years beginning from 2021.

Each of these bowls would cost them Rs.150, which they would mobilise from their regular donors. Interestingly, the volunteers of CFA, who place, clean and fill the bowls regularly, have been reusing the bowls placed even in 2021.

However, some people had damaged the water bowls since they felt that lack of water would restrict the street dog population.

However, Prithvi observed that the dogs would resort to more attacks on humans if they were deprived of water and food. There were other scientific ways of balancing street dog populations, he said, adding that many volunteers would help them in painting the bowls and disbursing them to various locations besides funding to purchase them.

The CFA will also maintain the data of volunteers, who were taking the water bowls, to take their feedback regularly. The public can contact them over 78422 27344 for water bowls.
