Hyderabad: The State Committee of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) expressed disappointment over the State government’s announcement on minimum wages revision and stated that the exercise was done unscientifically.

The minimum wage revision was not proportionate to the rising prices of commodities. This apart, the demands made by the unions were not considered by the government, CITU State Secretary P Bhaskar said.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, he said the minimum wages revision announced by the State government has not followed the Supreme Court guidelines, Minimum Wages Act, 1948 provisions and does not match the rising prices of commodities.

“If these guidelines were considered, the minimum wages would work out to Rs 32,000. Yet, we demand the minimum wages of Rs 26,000,” Bhaskar said.
