Civet Rangers, Apollo Cancer Crusaders qualify in Telangana Golf league

Hyderabad: Civet Rangers (Group A, 41 points); Apollo Cancer Crusaders (Group B, 42.5 points); Devpixel Devils (Group C, 41 points, points) & Team MYSA (Group D, 42.5 points) emerged as the leaders in their respective groups and qualified for the quarterfinals in the Sreenidhi University Telangana Premier Golf League at Hyderabad Golf Association course on Monday.

They were followed by Classic Champs (Group A, 37 points) Sreenidhi Thunderbolts (Group B, 35 points); Villaggio Highlanders (Group C 40.5, points) and Glendale Golfers (Group C 41, points) who came second in their respective groups, thereby qualified for the quarterfinals.


Civet Rangers came top of Group A with stellar performances from their Captain Sreedhar Reddy, Mr. Ram Mohan & A.V.Ramana Reddy winning all their matches and bagging the full 3 points each.  Classic Champs came second in the group with  a stellar show by captain Shashidhar Reddy, who won all his three matches while Venkat & Manoj bagged two points each with their wins.

Apollo Cancer Crusaders cruised to victory in Group B with fine performances from team owner Dr.Vijay Anand, who once again repeated his 3 match win in singles, along with similar performances by Bushan Byragani and Sanjay Pulla Reddy. The team captain, Ashok Reddy, who always seems to end up with tough opponents showed his match play abilities by winning 2.5 points. Showing great team spirit, the non-playing team members Neha, Vikram, and DSN Raju came to cheer the teammates in their dazzling green uniforms.

Sreenidhian Thunderbolts completed an epic comeback in the final round to advance to the quarter finals in Group B. Lokesh Jayswal and Sankeerth Nidadavolu delivered and secured 3 points each for the team. The nail-biting finish was seen through by Vijay Kumar as he secured the crucial final 2 points for the team on the final hole.

DevPixel Devils put up a spirited defence of it’s position at the top of the Group C after. It was a team effort with everyone contributing to the points table, with Ranadhir Reddy winning all his matches and bagging 3 points followed by Srinath Kottam, Ramana & Ashish with 2 points each.

Villagio Highlanders of Group C, charged the course  and qualified for the quarter finals with top performance from Vivek Verma & Sanjay Chowdhury bagging all 3 points, while  captain Sameer Azad Mahendra had a close finish with all the 3 players on the second last hole bagging 2.5 points followed by Sanjay Diwakar & Pardhasarati with two points each.

Team MYSA continued with its lead in Group D and qualified for the quarterfinals. Captain Madhav Kota continued his good form, winning all his three matches. Vasu Merugu also won all his three matches bagging 3 points while teammates Naveen Gullapalli & Abhijay Jaiswal bagged 2 points each.

Glendale Golfers of Group D, put up another clinical show to earn 15 points and qualified to the quarterfinals.  Ahmed, Narahari Varma and Rajender Gaddam won all their matches and got 3 points each. Team mates C.S.Rama Rao and Nageswara Rao got 2 points each after some rear-guard action while Venkat chipped in with 1 point.
