Hyderabad: The Civil Supplies Corporation has intensified the paddy procurement in the State and recorded purchase of 7.71 lakh tonnes paddy through 4,039 procurement centres till Saturday. The daily average paddy procurement is on a par with the paddy procured during the last . As on November 13 last year, about 8 lakh tonnes paddy was procured for Vaanakalam season.
Reviewing the arrangements, Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar directed the officials to take all precautionary measures to protect the paddy being procured from farmers. He wanted them to ensure that farmers do not face any inconvenience in this regard. The officials informed that paddy worth about Rs 1,510 crore was procured from around 1.13 lakh farmers across the State.
Arrangements have been made for speedy transportation and storage of the paddy procured from farmers as well as being shifted to the mills. All measures have been taken at the paddy procurement centres with adequate number of tarpaulins, gunny bags and others being made available for farmers.
Meanwhile, the Minister informed that about 2.29 lakh tonnes accounting for 77 per cent of total 2.99 lakh tonnes of ration rice, has been distributed through fair price shops for November month.
