Wanaparthy: A Class 7 student, Praveen from the SC residential school at Madanapur mandal headquarters, was found dead in his dormitory room.

Praveen, who hailed from Ponnuru village in Madanapur, was found hanging in the room. The reasons behind the drastic step were yet to be ascertained.

Praveen’s parents reside in Hyderabad for their livelihood, while he stayed at the residential school. Praveen was said to have sustained an injury while playing kabaddi at school on Tuesday.

The school staff informed his relatives about the injury on Wednesday. They reached the hostel to take Praveen to hospital for treatment. When they approached the principal, they were advised to find Praveen in the dormitory, where he was reportedly resting.

But Praveen’s relatives found him hanging from the ceiling fan in the dormitory. He was immediately rushed to the Wanaparthy Area Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.

The police have registered a case and started investigating. Praveen was reportedly involved in a scuffle with another student during the physical education period, resulting in severe injuries.

The school’s failure to admit Praveen to the hospital despite his injuries has raised suspicions.

This incident adds to the growing number of student suicides in the state, highlighting a disturbing trend. Education department officials are also investigating the circumstances surrounding Praveen’s death.
