Class X girl dies by suicide in Hayathnagar, family alleges harassment

Hyderabad: A 15-year-old girl died by suicide by hanging at her house in Kuntloor in Hayathnagar on the city outskirts on Thursday night, with her family accusing a male classmate of harassment.
According to the police, the girl, a Class X student, had moved with her family to Kuntloor from Nagarjuna Sagar two years ago. The boy had reportedly been in contact with her through Instagram and WhatsApp since then.
Family members said she had been disturbed in recent days and had complained of being harassed by him.
Police said the girl was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her house in the evening when no one was present. Neighbours alerted her father.
In a delay that raised concerns, the father initially shifted the body to his native place, Nagarjuna Sagar, before returning to Kuntloor and lodging a complaint on Friday.
Based on the complaint, the Hayathnagar police registered a case. They are verifying the facts and said necessary action will be taken based on the evidence.
