Hyderabad: The Consortium of National Law Universities has decided to hold the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) twice next year. The CLAT 2022 will be held on May 8, 2022, while the CLAT 2023 will be conducted on December 18, 2022.
A decision to this effect has been taken during the annual executive committee and the general body meetings of the Consortium of National Law Universities held under chairmanship of Prof. Faizan Mustafa at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, here, on Sunday.
“The CLAT-2022 will be held on May 8, 2022. The Consortium has resolved that CLAT-2023 will be held on December 18, 2022. Hence, in 2022 two CLAT examinations will be held in one year,” Consortium of National Law Universities, secretary cum treasurer, Prof. Sudhir Krishnaswamy said in a press release.
Further, the Consortium resolved to reduce the counselling fee from Rs.50,000 to Rs.30,000 for the general category candidates and Rs.20,000 for ST/SC/OBC/BC/EWS/PWD and other reservation candidates.
The Consortium has elected a new executive committee with Prof. Poonam Saxena, Vice Chancellor, National Law University, Jodhpur, taking over as president from the outgoing president Prof. Faizan Mustafa, Vice Chancellor, NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad.
Prof. Vijender Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, was elected as the vice president and Prof. VC Vivekanandan, Vice Chancellor, Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur, was elected as CLAT Convenor, 2022.
In order to fully protect the privacy of candidates, the Consortium resolved to secure the consent of candidates prior to sharing any personal information with any University or any other third party, Prof. Sudhir Krishnaswamy added.
