Cleaner Hyderabad: More trash collection and transfer points to come up

Hyderabad: Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao said 51 more Secondary Collection and Transfer Points (SC&TP) would come up in the capital to improve the sanitation in the city.
He was speaking after inaugurating 20 SC&TPs on Wednesday. Six floating trash collector machines that are used to remove water hyacinth from lakes were also inaugurated.
The Minister also said that an additional 500 Swachh Auto Tippers (SATs) would be pressed into service in the coming days to further scale up sanitation activities in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.
Regarding municipal solid waste, compared to other cities in India, Hyderabad had the highest capacity plant that converts waste to energy and the city also stood first in the country when it comes to treating the liquid waste through Sewage Treatment Plants, he added.
