Mancherial: Farmers in Chennapur village of Bheemini mandal spent a few anxious hours on Thursday after what they say was a close encounter with a tiger in a cotton farm. They said they escaped from the tiger by climbing a tree.
The farmers told the media later that they saw the tiger on the prowl in the cotton farm and to avoid confrontation, they climbed a tree and waited for the intruder into their farm to leave. A little later, the tiger vanished into the forests, they said, adding that they then informed forest officials and locals about the incident.
Forest officials rushed to the spot, but they could not record pugmarks of the wild animal as it got dark. They stated that they would resume the process of identifying the animal on Friday.
They advised farmers to take farm activities in groups and enter farms only between 10 am and 4 pm. They also requested the villagers not to harm the tigers by setting electrified fences.
