CM KCR announces sops to support Telugu film industry
CM KCR suggested that govt officials and representatives of film industry convene a joint meeting to finalise the exact date when the theatres can be reopened and also work out necessary standard operating procedures.

Hyderabad: Giving its nod for reopening cinema theatres after a hiatus of 10 months, the State government on Monday issued orders and asked the theatre managements to operate strictly in adherence to the Covid-19 guidelines. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao suggested that government officials and representatives of film industry convene a joint meeting to finalise the exact date when the theatres can be reopened and also work out necessary standard operating procedures.
As promised to the film fraternity during a meeting on Sunday, Chandrashekhar Rao came to the rescue of the Telugu film industry which had been shutdown due to the pandemic and suffered severe losses. He announced waiver of minimum demand charges against power supply for cinema halls from March when the lockdown was imposed till they reopen for screening. The State government will reimburse the amount to the power distribution companies. The movie theatres including single screen theatres can now run multiple shows and have flexible ticket prices.
For small budget movies upto Rs 10 crore budget, the State GST of nine per cent will be reimbursed. Further, the State government will soon issue ration cards and health cards to about 40,000 film industry workers including junior artistes to help them tide over the ongoing crisis.
