Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Monday made it clear that the paddy procurement would be taken up for the Vaanakalam season this year, as was done last year. He directed the Civil Supplies Department officials to procure paddy through 6,545 paddy purchase centres that were established last year.

Further, the Chief Minister announced that farmers in the State need not worry about paddy procurement and instead, should clean up the paddy yield and ensure that the moisture content was within permissible limits. He asked them to bring paddy to the procurement centres on designated dates to sell their produce.

Chandrashekhar Rao, who reviewed the arrangements made for paddy procurement which commenced on Monday, said the government was taking all measures to procure paddy at Minimum Support Price. Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, CMO Principal Secretary S Narsing Rao, Special Secretary Bhoopal Reddy, OSD Priyanka Varghese, Civil Supplies Commissioner Anil Kumar and others participated.
