Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will chair the State Cabinet meeting at Pragathi Bhavan at 2 pm on Thursday to discuss and finalise the dates for the monsoon session of the State Legislature. The session is likely to be held after September 22 since the State Legislature is required to meet once in six months as per the Constitutional norms and it had last met for the budget session which concluded on March 26.

The Cabinet is also expected to discuss paddy procurement, the change in procurement policy of Food Corporation of India (FCI), Telangana Dalit Bandhu and Covid-19 pandemic, among others. The Chief Minister is also likely to discuss with the State Cabinet the Centre’s response to issues taken up during his recent visit to New Delhi.

Sources said the State Cabinet will primarily discuss the Centre’s double standards towards Telangana and absence of support for its development. The Cabinet is expected to discuss on the FCI’s new policy decision not to procure boiled rice and procure only 60 lakh paddy of fine variety. With about 1.4 crore tonnes of paddy yield expected this Vaanakalam season, the Cabinet may take a decision to clear the rice stock of 40 lakh tonnes from the Yasangi (Rabi) season lying in rice mills and godowns as well as the lack of response to the State government’s requests to increase the 60 lakh tonnes quota as well as procurement of boiled rice.

The State Cabinet is also likely to accord approval to the implementation of Telangana Dalit Bandhu pilot projects in the four mandals of Chintakani, Tirumalgiri, Charagonda and Nizamsagar. It will discuss the progress of the pilot project in Huzurabad Assembly segment and Vasalamarri village.

The Cabinet is expected to discuss and come up with a solution with regard to the Telangana High Court verdict against immersion of Ganesh idols made of Plaster of Paris (POP) in Hussain Sagar and other water bodies. It will also consider the decision of the Supreme Court where a case is scheduled to come up for hearing in this regard. The filling of over 50,000 vacancies in various government departments and necessary measures to be taken, also is likely to be discussed.
