Hyderabad: Faced with fierce criticism from all quarters over a farmer from Lagacherla being taken to a hospital in handcuffs for treatment, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy ordered for a detailed enquiry into the incident and directed officials to submit a report.

Heerya Naik, a tribal farmer who was jailed in Sangareddy for opposing to part with his land for establishing a pharma village at Lagacherla, had complained of chest pain, reportedly caused by a heart stroke, and was taken to the government hospital in Sangareddy. However, with officials taking him cuffed to a chain held by a constable in a police jeep, and videos of the same going viral on social media platforms, people from different sections , including the principal opposition BRS, raised strong objections.
