Wanaparthy: Holding Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy responsible for the plight of farmers, former Minister and Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao launched a scathing attack against Revanth Reddy’s failure to deliver on electoral promises. He declared that he would call the Chief Minister evader (Egavethala) Revanth Reddy for implementing none of his poll promises in the last 10-11 months of the Congress rule.

Addressing at a farmers’ protest rally at Wanaparthy on Tuesday, Harish Rao accused the Congress government of neglecting crucial schemes and criticised Revanth Reddy’s disrespect toward Telangana’s cultural and religious values.

“Revanth Reddy cheated all the farmers of the State as well as the Gods and Goddesses by taking false oaths and not implementing his promise to waive all crop loans upto Rs 2 lakh. I pray that the Almighty does not show wrath on the people of Telangana for the sins committed by the Chief Minister. I will keep calling out this government until it delivers on its word, no matter how many cases they file against me,” he declared.

The senior BRS legislator said the Chief Minister neglected his promises like the crop loan waiver, Bathukamma sarees, KCR kits, and subsidies for farmers. “Revanth Reddy has not only failed to deliver electoral promises, but also discontinued all the initiatives of the BRS government, which is unforgivable,” he said. He said Revanth Reddy’s administration lacked accountability, and vowed to continue challenging these unfulfilled promises, despite the Chief Minister’s campaign of slander and intimidation aimed at silencing BRS opposition.

Harish Rao questioned the sharp decrease in funds required for crop loan waiver scheme from Rs 45,000 crore to Rs 29,000 crore, and now, Rs 17,000 crore. He accused Revanth Reddy of manipulating the loan waiver scheme and criticised the government for placing restrictive conditions on Rythu Bandhu.

He expressed discontent over inadequate educational and employment opportunities in Wanaparthy, while the BRS strove to improve it with projects like the Buddaram branch canal and establishing engineering and medical colleges. He felt that recent government policies including GO 29, undermined SC/ST employment opportunities, harming students and communities.

Harish Rao said the BRS had set up a legal cell in Telangana Bhavan to defend illegal cases filed against the party leaders as well as the poor and the needy. “We will continue to fight for Telangana’s farmers, workers, and youth.” he vowed. He cautioned the police authorities against going overboard and mishandling the BRS leaders and activists, at the behest of the Congress leaders.
