Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday directed officials to ensure that all 34 government medical colleges in the State are fully functional with the required infrastructure and amenities within three years. He asked for the preparation of an action plan and the formation of an Officials Committee to assess and oversee infrastructure development in each college.

The Committee should visit every medical college, identify required facilities, estimate the funds needed, and expedite the completion of all ongoing works, he said.

The Chief Minister was reviewing health department affairs at a meeting held here on Monday, where several issues flagged by the National Medical Council (NMC) were also discussed. He asked officials to prepare a comprehensive report covering key aspects, including recruitment in government medical colleges, promotions of teaching staff, and increasing bed capacity in hospitals affiliated with these colleges.

With increasing demand for nursing professionals in Japan, Revanth Reddy instructed officials to introduce Japanese as an optional language in nursing colleges. He said the Japanese government had already offered support for teaching the language to nursing students in Telangana.

The Chief Minister also suggested exploring the use of a mobile application to monitor patient flow, doctors’ service to patients, hospital timings, and other operational aspects.
