CMC launches special drive to clear legacy waste across Cyberabad
The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation has launched 'Beyond Routine - Extra Hour Service' to clear legacy waste and unattended garbage across the city. The phased initiative will strengthen sanitation operations, improve waste management and enforce strict action against illegal dumping.
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC), in association with Hyderabad Integrated MSW Limited (HIMSW), launched ‘Beyond Routine – Extra Hour Service’, a sanitation initiative to speed up the clearance of legacy waste and unattended garbage across the city, a press release said on Monday.
“The initiative is intended to supplement regular sanitation operations through additional manpower and machinery for the removal of long-pending legacy waste, unattended garbage dumps, and waste accumulated along road margins, in open plots and at other identified locations,” the release said.
The drive commenced in Kukatpally Zone, where legacy waste at Srila Park Pride Road was cleared in the first phase. The programme, inaugurated by Additional Commissioner (Sanitation), CMC, Venu Gopal Reddy, will be implemented in phases across all zones to address identified legacy waste locations across the Corporation limits.
On the occasion, the Additional Commissioner (Sanitation) appealed to citizens, commercial establishments and street vendors to refrain from dumping waste on roadsides, open spaces and vacant plots, and urged the public to hand over segregated waste only to authorised door-to-door collection vehicles.
The Corporation would strengthen surveillance against illegal waste dumping and continue strict enforcement of the “No Bin – No Trade” policy, under which commercial establishments are required to maintain waste bins and ensure scientific disposal of waste, the press release said.
