Hyderabad: Chirayush, a student of class XI represented Telangana State and secured a silver medal in the 73rd National Track Cycling Championship 2021 by Rajasthan Road Riders and Cycling Federation of India recently. The school chairman Ch Malla Reddy and staff congratulated the student on the achievement, a statement from the school said.
The school said Chirayush was always interested in sports from his childhood and would cycle for hours daily. He participated in other sports and represented the school in various competitions, the schools said. Chirayush’s love for cycling took a professional turn in 2017 and he pursued it with more passion.
Listing out his achievement, the school said Chirayush won his first silver and gold medal at Pune in 2018 CBSE Sports event. He won gold in 2018 at a State-level meet and in the same year, he came in top 5 in Haryana and Jaipur trace games. In 2019, he was selected for Khelo India Academy. The event gave him more scope to specialize.
In 2020, he stood first in State games while in 2021 he stood at 4th position at the nationals’ event that saw 80 cyclists. He missed bronze by a few milliseconds. The year 2021 brought him luck with Chirayush winning a silver medal at the Jaipur event. The student is aiming to take gold in the upcoming Khelo India 2022 event, the school said.
