Cold wave grips Hyderabad and parts of Telangana, mercury drops to single digit
Mavala in Adilabad records 5.9 degrees Celsius and in Hyderabad, at University of Hyderabad (UoH) campus the temperature dropped to 7.8 degrees Celsius
Hyderabad: Cold wave conditions in Hyderabad and other districts of State have been unrelenting with minimum temperatures on Tuesday morning dropping to a record 5.9 degrees Celsius at Mavala, Adilabad, and 7.8 degrees Celsius in Hyderabad at University of Hyderabad (UoH) campus.
Multiple regions in Hyderabad continued to record single digit minimum temperatures on Tuesday, according to the data of Telangana Development Planning Society (TSDPS). At BHEL factory and Patancheru, the minimum temperature recorded on Tuesday was 7.9 degrees Celsius followed by Moula Ali, where mercury dropped to 8.2 degrees Celsius.
Rajendranagar recorded minimum temperature 8.4 degrees Celsius while minimum temperatures at Sivarampalli dropped to 9.4 degrees Celsius. At Gachibowli, the minimum temperature recorded was 9.7 degrees Celsius.
Minimum temperatures in other regions of Hyderabad, including Marredpally, Quthbullapur, Saroornagar, Alwal, Balanagar, Malkajgiri, Shaikpet, Bahadurpura and Golconda hovered between 10 degrees Celsius and 12 degrees Celsius.
In districts, the minimum temperatures in Adilabad, Sangareddy, Nirmal and Kamareddy hovered between 5.9 degrees Celsius and 6.9 degrees Celsius. While Mavala (Adilabad) recorded the lowest at 5.9 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature at Bela and Bheempoor (Adilabad) on Tuesday was 6.3 degrees Celsius, Kohir in Sangareddy recorded 6.7 degrees Celsius and Zahirabad in Sangareddy recorded 6.8 degrees Celsius.
Cold wave conditions were widespread as minimum temperatures plummeted to single digits (below 10 degrees Celsius) in multiple locations in Adilabad, Nirmal, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Sangareddy, Rangareddy, Medak, Nizamabad, Vikarabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Kamareddy, Peddapalli, Siddipet, Warangal and Nagarkurnool.
