Hyderabad: Navyabharati Global School (Nizamabad) got a ‘thumbs up’ from the District Administration after the Collector Ila Tripathi reviewed the arrangements at the School’s ultra-modern sports complex which will be hosting the Khelo India Youth Games table tennis event in December this year.
“First of all, as the District Administration, we feel very proud. I would like to congratulate the Youth and Sports Department because they were the ones who sent the report. The last time I happened to visit the campus, it was still under construction. It has come up really well, and in fact, in record time,” the Collector said after the review meeting with the school management, headed by the CEO K. Santhosh Kumar.
“Nizamabad’s connectivity and its distinct image as a sports hub having produced someone like the two-time women’s world boxing champion Nikhat Zareen could have been the reason to chose this as KIYG venue,” the Collector said
“I was pretty pleased to see these facilities. And, it is a huge relief too for the administration as we don’t have much work to do in terms of civil infrastructure. It has already been taken care of, so I would say I’m relieved,” Ila Tripathi said.
“I think Nizamabad really requires more infrastructure facilities like Khelo Bharati. Now, this of course being a private facility, hopefully someday, you know, we’ll have such an infrastructure facility for, you know, the common public as well,” she said.
Reflecting on the role of schools in encouraging students to take up sports, the Collector said: “Build infrastructure like this and they will automatically come and play. If you have a, you know, mud ground, I don’t think there’ll be many people encouraged to play around,” the Collector said.
“I would request the management as well as the District Administration that students from outside the school should all also be given access to events like these. They should also be sitting in the gallery to know what it really is. Because as of now, the importance of this event is not known to many,” Ila Tripathi said.
On improving the facilities at the complex, the Collector complimented the management saying: “Well, we just had a detailed meeting. I mean, you’re already a 9 out of 10. Maybe just, you know, some minor changes, some smoothening the corners would do.”
