Mancherial: Government Whip Balka Suman instructed authorities concerned to complete the process of procurement of paddy by the end of May. He convened a review meeting over procurement of paddy and visited an isolation centre in Bellampalli on Thursday. He was joined by Mancherial MLA N Diwakar Rao and Bellampalli legislator Durgam Chinnaiah.
Addressing the officials, Suman said that the paddy should be purchased and shipped to rice mills as per deadlines set by the government and before the onset of the monsoon. He told the authorities to take steps for shipping 1.10 lakh metric tonnes of paddy to mills at the earliest. He said that 65,000 metric tonnes of paddy out of the total procured 74,000 metric tonnes was transported to mills in Mancherial Assembly segment so far.
The government whip further said that 27,000 metric tonnes of paddy were shipped to mills as against 31,000 metric tonnes purchased through 91 centres in Chennur segment. He stated that barely 3,700 metric tonnes was shifted to mills when compared to 5,000 metric tonnes of paddy procured with the help of 38 centres in Bellampalli Assembly constituency.
This Chennur MLA asked the officials to complete procurement of the remaining paddy produce and shipment of the grains. He advised them to use private buildings and function halls for storing the grains if required. He stated that 523 trucks were available for shipping the paddy. He operators of the procurement centres to keep required tarpaulin covers and gunny bags ready and to follow protocol of Covid-19 at the time of the purchasing.
Later, Suman, Diwakar Rao, Chinnaiah and Collector Bharati Hollikeri visited an isolation centre at SCCL’s Area Hospital in Bellampalli town. He instructed the officials of the medical and health department to provide better medical services to the patients. He interacted with some of the infected and said that the government was making all out efforts to tackle Covid-19 pandemic.
