Mancherial: Special measures have been initiated to achieve 100 per cent target for the first and second doses of vaccination against Covid-19 by December 23, the deadline set by Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar for the district recently, said Mancherial District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) Dr Komram Balu. In an interview with Telangana Today, he explained the efforts made by the department to accomplish the mission.
What is the target set for the district? How much percentage of the first and second doses of vaccine has been registered by the district so far?
As many as 530,109 persons are required to be vaccinated in the district as per the target of the government. Of them, 520,756 were given the first dose of the vaccination so far. This means the district registered 98 percent of the first dose. A sum of 227,107 persons got the second dose, translating to 43.61 percent.
How is the performance of the district when it comes to the ongoing vaccination drive?
Mancherial district is in the top position among the four districts of erstwhile Adilabad district. We have adopted a two-pronged strategy to accomplish the mission. We are focusing on mobilisation and vaccination. While mandal-level officials are tasked with creating awareness among the public, staffers of the department are carrying out the vaccination drive. Every habitation is being considered as a unit. A nodal officer has been deputed to every unit, sub-centre and mandal.
How many teams have been formed to reach the target? By when, can the district achieve 100 percent vaccination?
As many as 295 teams comprising an ANM and two ASHA workers each and four mobile teams were formed for administering the vaccine. The teams are striving hard for achieving the targets set for them and covering the civilians. Concerted efforts We hope that the district can easily reach the target by the deadline.
