Congress’ 53,000 job claim exposed: Credit goes to BRS Government
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy recently claimed during the 'Praja Vijayotsavalu' meeting in Warangal that 50,000 vacancies had been filled over the past 10 months. Unofficial figures shared by the party even suggested 53,310 recruitments, including police personnel and teachers. However, these claims appear to be far from reality.
Hyderabad: The Congress government’s tall claims of filling up around 53,000 jobs in various departments in the last one year have actually been the seeds sown by the previous BRS government.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, as part of ‘Praja Vijayotsavalu’ meeting in Warangal, recently made bold claims of recruiting 50,000 vacancies in the last 10 months. And unofficial statistics circulated by the grand-old-party took the stake of recruiting 53,310 vacancies, including police personnel and teachers. However, the reality is far from the truth.
From SI and constables vacancies in the Police department to various teaching positions in different residential educational institutions societies, all vacancies have been notified and exams were conducted under the previous pink party government regime.
Before coming to power, the Congress party showered assurances on the unemployed youth of filling two lakh vacancies within a year into forming the government. However, hardly two per cent out of the total assured jobs were notified.
Take the case of the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC), a largest recruiting body, which has not issued a single notification since the grand-old-party formed the government in the State. Similar is the situation with the Telangana Police Recruitment Board and Telangana Residential Educational Institutions Recruitment Board, which have not issued a single notification in the last 11 months.
As for the Group-I services recruitment, which the Congress government now takes the claim of notification, the previous BRS government created a record of its sorts by notifying a staggering 503 vacancies. However, this notification was cancelled by the State government only to renotify, adding another 60 posts to already notified 503 vacancies. Similarly, the then BRS government issued the District Selection Committee (DSC) notification for 5,089 vacancies in the government and local body schools across the State. This notification was supplemented with another 5,973 vacancies, taking the total to 11,062 vacancies while the Congress party during assembly elections assured a mega DSC with 20,000 vacancies.
“What the Congress party is saying is nothing but just lies. The party assured to recruit two lakh vacancies in one year but now it is talking about filling up 53,000 posts, which were notified by the previous government. The party played with emotions of the unemployed youth during elections and now betrayed them,” said A Janardhan, a Group- I aspirant and leader Telangana Unemployed JAC.
It may be worth recalling that the then TRS (now BRS) government filled a staggering 1,60,083 lakh jobs between 2014 and 2023. On the other hand the Congress government in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh recruited 24,086 vacancies from 2004 to 2014. So far, the Congress government notified a meager 3,868 vacancies via the Telangana Medical and Health Services Recruitment Board.
This speaks volumes about the employment opportunities for the unemployed in the pink party government regime.
Further, the much-touted job calendar, promising recruitment notifications with a timeline, which was released by the State government in the legislative assembly, failed to materialize.
While the Revanth Reddy government assured to notify the Group – I vacancies in the month of October, the notification is yet to see light of the day, highlighting the government’s failure to deliver on its promises.
In fact, even the present Group- I notification got into legal tangles due to the policy decision of the government that issued GO 29 depriving chances of several aspirants from reserved communities to participate in the recruitment process. The High Court is set to hear a petition on this case on November 26.
“Given the promises showered by the Congress party on the unemployed youth during the elections, we rallied behind the grand-old-party. However, we now feel betrayed. The Congress party is crediting itself for filling up 50,000 vacancies notified by the past BRS government,” lamented Indra Naik, who is the victim of GO 29.
