Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Congress government accusing it of betraying farmers and government employees. The Congress failed to deliver on its electoral promises, particularly regarding Rythu Bharosa farm investment support and loan waiver, the party working president KT Rama Rao said here.

Rama Rao ridiculed the Congress for its inconsistency in implementing Rythu Bharosa farm investment support. “They made grand election slogans on Rythu Bharosa and loan waivers, but now, after Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao’s recent comments, Telangana farmers are left confused. They once claimed to support tenant farmers, but now they are backing out, cutting them off without explanation,” he remarked.

The BRS working president added that the Congress government had earlier deceived farmers by withdrawing Rythu Bharosa investment support for Vaanakalam (Kharif) season and failing to fulfill its complete loan waiver promise. “Today, they refuse to guarantee support for tenant farmers. The Chief Minister is backtracking from the 420 electoral promises made in the Congress manifesto, one after the other. Why make promises you cannot keep? This is nothing but fraud and deception,” he said.

He warned that the people of Telangana especially farmers will never forgive such betrayal. He stated that the Chief Minister will pay dearly for this deceit.

Further, the former Minister also criticised the Congress for its neglect of government employees, accusing it of disregarding their welfare. “The Congress government has failed to implement the government orders issued during the BRS regime, pertaining to the Employees Health Care Trust and left around 20 lakh families in distress. In contrast to the K Chandrashekhar Rao government treating employees like family, the Congress regime is not even releasing funds for their healthcare,” he said, demanding immediate relief for public servants.
