Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan charged the Congress and the BJP with running a coordinated campaign to malign former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and weaken the BRS. He said despite ideological differences, both these parties were operating as “partners in conspiracy” in Telangana.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday, Sravan said BJP leaders in the State had become Congress spokesmen donning saffron scarves, parroting Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s line instead of questioning the government.
“The BJP has surrendered to the Congress. They say ‘yes’ to whatever Congress says,” he remarked, questioning why BJP MPs and MLAs were silent on core issues like Krishna River water allocation, RR tax, repairs of Kaleshwaram project and Medigadda barrage.
He said Maharashtra government advisor Vedire Sriram was running a false propaganda campaign against KCR while aligning with Congress leaders.
“What is Vedire Sriram doing in the Telangana Command Control Room or at Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy’s chamber?” he asked, unless Sriram was colluding with Revanth Reddy and Uttam Kumar Reddy to discredit the BRS.
The BRS MLC reiterated that allocation of 299 TMCft of Krishna River water to Telangana was decided before the State formation. He said despite concrete measures initiated by Chandrashekhar Rao to resolve Krishna River water issues and halt the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project (RLIP), the Congress and the BJP leaders were jointly targeting him.
“Instead of blaming him, let them bring back Telangana’s rightful share of Krishna waters from Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.
He questioned why the BJP was not questioning the Congress government’s delay in completion of Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, alleged contractor collusion in Kodangal Lift Irrigation project, and failure to repair the Kaleshwaram project.
